Though the specification has its roots in military aerospace business it is not limited at all to this area. The outstanding issues of the SPEC 2000 M are
- Definition and transmission of item data including their location in the project, i.e. the project is broken down into a tree-like structure. Data and structure are discussed between customer and contractor.
- Presentation and update of procurement data
- Order administration including amendments from both partners, including item changes (important for all projects having items with long leadtimes)
- Mutual supply support
- Invoicing
- Extendable data dictionary
Projects with intensive interrelationship between customer an contractor will mostly benefit from using this specification.
Aim of this course is to give an understanding of the technical issues as well as the business objects behind the transactions, and last but not least to give an idea about the need of a guidance document and its definition and maintenance.
